Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat
Audition Information
Notes:
-Please only audition if you truly want to be in the show and are willing to commit FULLY in effort, attitude, and focus. Being in plays is a HUGE time commitment plus can be really stressful-especially if you are a lead. Everyone always wants to be THE LEAD; being a lead is highly satisfying and a great experience but it is a lot more stressful than a chorus roll. Chorus roles are also very fun and satisfying as well so think carefully about the commitment you are willing to give to this production. Whatever you decide, once we cast you we EXPECT you to give your full effort and commit the time your role dictates to give a SUPURB performance.
*See section About Our Production for more details on time commitment for various rolls*
How Do I Audition?
-Please be EARLY for your audition (5-10 minutes) as there is usually information posted on the wall which is important for you to read before you audition.
-Please dress professionally for your auditions, especially the Dance Audition wear clothes you can move in while sill maintaining professionalism. You want to look GOOD!
What Do I Need to Prepare for the Singing Auditions?
-Choose a song you feel comfortable with, that will show-off your voice. Preferably a song from a musical, a Christmas song works too! Prepare 16 measures or about 1 minute of a song. Please provide your own accompaniment (a pianist or a minus track on a CD or Ipod).
What Do I Need to Prepare for Dancing Auditions?
-Nothing. We will be teaching you a dance in which you will perform at the end with a group of students.
What Is a Call-Back and What Do I Need to Prepare for It?
-A callback means we want to see more from you. You will be taught some music from the show to perform for us during the callback. Remember, Just because you are not called back, does not mean you won’t be in the show.
When are Rehearsals?
-Rehearsals will start Sept. 6 and will go until the show performances which are November 17, 18, 19, and 21. We will not rehearse during school breaks or holidays. Rehearsals are generally held from 2:30-5pm (1:30-4pm on Mondays).
-There will be one mandatory rehearsal held Saturday Nov.12 from 9am-3pm.
-Students are expected to be in the theater with Miss Stubbs during rehearsals, not any where else in the school. They may not wander around except to use the restroom or get a drink. I may not be working with every one at all times; therefore, the students will be expected to sit and do homework or other quiet activities in the auditorium until we are ready to work with them. We will do our best to have all who are there involved as much as possible.
-The last few weeks of rehearsals every actor is required to be at rehearsals. If you will be gone during this time, please reconsider auditioning or make arrangements to be at rehearsals.
What if I Can’t Make it to Every Rehearsal?
-I do not believe in having people at rehearsals when they are not needed. I try to be very considerate with people’s time. If you do have a conflict, mark it on your audition sheet. If I choose to cast you I will not schedule you to come to rehearsal during one of those times.
-If you DO NOT mark conflicts on your audition sheet do NOT come to me after you are cast and say you can’t make it to some of the rehearsals. Please be honest and forthright with me.
-I realize that emergencies occur and will be flexible (your favorite show on TV or a surprise trip to Disneyland is NOT an emergency!)
-If you do have conflicts audition anyway. If we love your work enough we may be willing to work around your conflicts.
-TECH WEEK and DRESS REHEARSALS are REQUIRED. If you cannot make it to one of these rehearsals do not audition. (Nov. 7-21). If you have weekly lessons, try to rearrange them so you can be at rehearsals.
-Unexcused Absences: An unexcused absence is one that Miss Stubbs has not been informed of in advance (written on the audition form). On the second unexcused absence the student will be removed from the show.
-Illnesses: If an actor is ill and can not come to school please send Miss Stubbs an e-mail or leave a voicemail prior to rehearsal telling her that they will not be at rehearsal. If an actor is well enough to come to school, they are well enough to attend rehearsal. Illnesses will be considered as an excused absence IF the above procedure is followed.
When Will the Cast List Be Posted?
-The cast list will be posted under the musical page on the drama website (www.oakcanyondrama.weebly.com) and outside the front office Friday, Sept. 2 after school.

If you want to keep your costume, you will be in charge of finding and purchasing the materials needed.
